VCR (VHS) input to Computer Soundcard, Recording

Hi , So that i don't wreck my computer, can anyone tell me if using the line-out (phono) from my nicam VCR into my computer soundcard would be OK? I have the necessary 2-phono to jack, 1/4", lead. I am just not sure about levels(or poss. dangerous overloads)...Cheers for any authoritative help.

Should be ok. I did similar with a Cassette player a couple of years ago...transferring taped music to CD. No overload problems encountered and managed to get rid of all the tape hiss. Used a Roxio product for the capture. All worked very well.

Output/input signals for both audio and video were standardised at 1V p/p many years ago.

Unless you are using some very old equipment, it should be OK.
