I am trying to transfer my home video tape recordings onto DVD. My ATI 9800SE All in Wonder captures the video in many file formats .VCR.AVI.MPEG and sound OK to hard disk and I can play these back on my PC but I cannot save or send these files to my DVD writer NEC 1300 using XP home. Can anyone recommend a utility to do this or am I missing the obvious and there is a way using XP, also which format is best ?

Here's a free dv editor click here If you can it's best to save/work in avi. These are uncompressed so are the best quality and are the fastest to work with when editing. Then you can burn/convert to mpeg2 (using nero6 or similar) for dvd/svcd or mpeg1 for vcd.
