Vastly reduced sound problem

  Simmpy 15:34 02 Jan 13

I am running Windows 7 Home edition. At full volume sound is only just audible with the following programs, iTunes, WMP, CD's, Spotify and Video's. However there is full/deafening sound via Youtube. I have checked the sound settings and the audio card driver and all seems correct, also sound is fine through my headphones. Nothing anywhere appears to be muted. This has just started today, previously no problems for the last 15 months? Any help wopuld be well received, thanks.

Have you altered/checked the volume in each of the programs? eg: in WMP you move the volume slider at bottom of WMP window.

Try a System restore to a few days ago.

I would have mentioned cables, etc but sound is fine through you-tube.

Are the system sounds ok?

Problem identified: On the volume dial there is a balance control, one of the kids had turned it fully to the right. When turned back to the center and the left their is sound - so problem is no sound to one channel? That should now be easily fixed, thanks for the suggestions.
