Vanishing Programs

I just bought my new PC last week and since I started using it I have noticed that some of the programs in Windows XP have vanished off my system. The first to go was the pre-loaded games such as Solitaire and Hearts, then I have just tried to use the calculator and that has gone too. These are the only ones I have noticed so far but there could be more. I have tried everything I know to try and find them without any result, they are not even showing in the log of removed programs - they have gone as if they were never on my PC in the first palce, but I know they were. Can anyone help or tell me how to get them back?

I assume you've looked in Start, All programs?

I thought that was a bit obvious but always worth checking the obvious.

See if you can find a "missing" program using Windows Explorer. For example Solitaire should be

assuming that Windows is installed on drive C.

yes it is installed on drice c and I have looked in there too - still no luck.

If it is a new 'puter and programs have vanished, take it back to the supplier and demand a refund/replacement/repair.
