Vanishing 'Favourites' listing

Help! I've done something stupid! My entire favourites file has suddenly reduced itself to a single, empty folder called LINKS.

I did a search on one of the file names I remembered and found what I thought was the missing file list, all type 'DBX' files.
(This, I realised too late, is because the missing list shared many of the file names in my Outlook Express 'Local Folders' list.)
I then 'moved' the list of DBX files into my 'Favourites' folder!!!!

Now I can't access all my stored e-mail!

I'm running WinXP/Home, and system restore doesn't help.

Please, *How do I put my DBX files back where they belong?
and, where have the contents of my favourites folder gone? Would they be in the 'Norton protected' recycle bin, not that I have deleted anything recently?

Should have checked through the forum first! Now have successfully restored DBX files thanks to info already posted.

I'd still like to find my missing 'Favorite' URL's though.
