VIA V-Link high or normal?

Hello folks I hope you can help me a wee bit here. I purchased a new motherboard a few weeks back Asrock K7VT4A+ click here and an AMD Sempron 2600+ processor (well new for me anyway) and I'm not 100% sure about the bios settings as this is my first AMD processor and VIA chipset mobo.

I don't have a problem as such, the computer is running great and I am a happy bunny but I would appreciate your advice if you can throw any light on the subject of 'V-link' for me thanks.

I have googled 'VIA V-Link' and understand that in simple terms it's the data connection speed between the north bridge and south bridge.

I have two settings in my bios 'normal' and 'high'. I am led to believe that setting this to 'high' in my bios increases the data transfer rate between the north and south bridge from the 'normal' 266Mhz to

should I set this to High instead of normal please or should i leave it as is? What difference does this make in the real world if any?

Hi huggyg71.

My old m/b had v-link functionality and to be honest I didn't notice any sort of performance increase when I enabled it. I didn't have any stability issues with it enabled, but it probably isn't enabled by default in case it could cause stability issues on some systems.
