Using Winamp v5; wma files vs mp3s

I'm thinking of upgrading Winamp to Winamp pro, so I can rip CDs onto my laptop and carry my music from place to place. I've got two questions:

Does anyone know whether paying for the upgrade allows me to use Winamp pro on both my home computer and my laptop?

And what is the relative size/quality of mp3 files compared with wma files? I figure if there is not much difference, I may as well stick with Windows MPlayer?

Grateful for any ideas...

There difference in quality depends on the size of compression used, but wma files can hold a better quality for less Mb.

For "there" read "Their"

Ok, that looks as though I may stick with media player then...unless anyone can advise me that somehow winamp is better (I know its got a smaller footprint, but at the moment that's not really a problem)
