Using spare modem as wireless extender

Just got a YouView box from TalkTalk but I'm short of the Powerline Adaptors - it appears I have to buy them, only £17.50 a pair -

in the bundle I got a new modem which incidentally offers no improvement over the old modem, so I wondered if the old modem could be configured as a wireless extender - i.e. connect to the old modem wirelessly and plug in via Ethernet cable into the YouView box.

Anyone any ideas whether this scenario would be possible please - it's an oldish Speedtouch ST585 V6 but is in full working order.

Thanks for now

Thx onthelimit. I will have a look and give it a try.
