Using rewritable dvds

  Baboolal 15:52 12 Nov 09

I have ASER Aspire 3610 which has a rewritable dvd drive, but I can't get any short clips to burn onto dvds. Are there different sorts of dvds? Could is be the particular dvd format or is it my computer?

yes.there are rewritable dvds which you can use ver and over again. however you should be able to burn short clips on your dvd media whether write once or rewritable.

I take it you are using XP?If so you need third party software, try Imgburn, its free.

Thanks. I have downloaded imgburn, it has given me this notice...

W 16:42:59 Drive C:\ (FAT32) does not support single files > 4 GB in size.

W 16:42:59 Drive D:\ (FAT32) does not support single files > 4 GB in size.

Does this mean that my computer won't burn dvds? It says its a rewriter, I'm still not sure if its my computer or the dvd.

Any ideas?

I dont understand either,im sure someone will though.Maybe its because the pcs disks are fat32 and not ntfs, purely a guess though,i will watch this with interest.

As tullie says FAT32 is limited to 4GB. You need NTFS for bigger files.
For DVDRW you will need something like InCD or other Packet Writing software.

Can Baboola change to NTFS without affecting his files etc?

Are you saying that Vista burns DVDs?I felt certain it does not.

  Baboolal 09:24 16 Nov 09

I'm not using Vista. I still can't get it to work. I'm trying to burn a clip, its really small, only 3 mins long so I can't imagine that its too big. May have to give up!
