using rescue disc to reset computer

  superspark 18:43 01 Feb 08

Can someone please advise me on this problem?
My son has an Acer laptop which is second hand and did not come with a rescue disc and had XP pre-installed.
I now want to know is it possible to reformat the disc then install everything from a rescue disc for a Toshiba laptop. Is this possible or am I totally wrong?
Thanks very much..

No, the recue disc will only work with the computer it's made for

If youve got the Acer software installed, you can burn a recovery disc using it.

Hopefully youve got a restore parition,if the laptop came as bought?

The easiest way of makng a back up recovery disk is to buy a copy of Acronis true image.

Make the rescue CD then a copy of the drive to an external drive or DVDs
