Using PC as a DVR

  wildfiction 19:23 28 Dec 05

I currently have the following in my appartment:

> some networked PC's with a cable router/modem.
> a couple of TV's
> 4 cable outputs for coax cables on the wall wired to the TV's and cable modem.

I would like to use one of the PC's as a DVR.

If I buy a TV tuner card for the PC and hook it to the cable I assume that I can record anything that my TV can pick up right?

Now the real challenge is that I would like to be able to play that recorded program and transmit it back out onto the cables that are wired in my appartment to the other TVs. Is this possible?

Any help or pointers to a web resource that can help would be much appreciated. Also any advice about what type of TV tuner to buy would be appreciated.
