If I get a free or cheap PAYG sim card does it come with any credit or if not how do I get started to top up?

  User-1229748 23:15 24 Mar 10

no it won't have any credit and how you get it started depends on which sim card you are using

i use the freebie i got from o2 (they will send you 4) i top up £15 and that gets me 100 free minutes and 100 free texts a month.i don't use 100 minutes a month so it means i pay £15 every 2 months for calls to any land line or any mobile network :o)

It's for a virgin phone.

Tesco (o2 network) comes with 20 pence free. You pay £1 something for it at the checkout.

I ordered (free) an Orange and an O2 card via their websites.

I was messing with a few old handsets and wanted to check them out.

Also Vodafone, but that was my card with credit on it already.

All of them seem to divert automatically when you make a call to their Top Up numbers. Then you key in your Debit Card Details.

I unlocked a Vodafone and an O2 handset free of charge by calling their customer services.

But one phone was 5 yrs old and one was 2 and a bit years old.
I heard many providers will unlock free for more than one yr old, but some charge.

Your Virgin SIM pack will contain a E Top up card that you use to top up at most shops.

Even though there is no credit on the SIM when you get it, you can call 789 for free and buy credit that way.

Virgin you can get 200 minutes to landlines or mobiles and unlimited text messages for £10 a month.
Or if the phone is unlocked get an Asda sim card.
8p a minute for calls and 4p a minute for text messages.

Just check out the sim only or contract.

If you do not use the phone a lot.Asda is about the cheapest sim only.
