using more than one web hoster

Are you limited to using one hosting company on any one computer. I can't see why you should be in theory but the technical side of things is vague here. So if I have 3 sites and want to try out several companies is it or is it not advisable/possible to do this?

I think you're getting the wrong end of the stick here.

The hosting co you sign up for is not on your computer but on their own. You sign up for one, or two, suitable companies and then once your webspace has been alloted to you, domain name bought and activated then you upload your site files to it via FTP.

I have three websites all hosted by Easily at cost of £200 pa and I think you may find it a bit expensive to sign up for multiple hosts anyway.

This question should really be in the web design forum.

realised my mistake of posting in wrong category. Understand about 'their' computer but you've clarified that you can use more than one hosting company at a time.

Not for the same domain name, you can't - unless you use a different domain name at each site how will the name servers know where to send your site visitors to?
