using laptop cam

I want to use the built-in webcam on my HP Pavilion laptop as a digital camera and transfer the images to the Windows Photo Gallery.
In other words, I want to use it exactly like a regular digital camera. It seems like it should be a simple thing to do, but I can't figure out how to do it.

I'm using QuickPlay and also Cyberlink YouCam. I can take a snapshot easily enough, but neither seems to have a way to move the image to a Windows file.

Am I as dumb as I feel?

Dont know about your laptop but on mine i can take a snapshot,and it goes to my pictures folder.You can change this to a folder of your choice.Mine is a Toshiba,so may be different.

Thanks. I'm at least half as dumb as I feel . . .
Quickplay automatically sends them to a folder in my Windows picture file, but YouCam only offers three choices: email, YouTube, or delete.

The pics by YouCam were much better for color and clarity. If anyone knows how to transfer them to Photo Gallery I'd appreciate it.

Try emailing them to youself and then save them from the email to your pictures or where you want them.
