Using laptop as an audio recorder

I want to plug a microphone into my laptop and use the machine as a voice recorder (and subsequent archive for audio files from which I might want to make CDs). Anyone recommend a program to achieve this

You could try JetAudio (free) from click here.

Scroll to the bottom and select JetAudio 6 Basic Download.

Once installed, run it and select Recording and tick the box Microphone. Never failed me yet.
