Using Gmail with Outlook 2003

I have configured Gmail to work with Outlook 2003 after finally realising that I had to change settings within the actual Gmail account.

My problem is that I want emails to be deleted from my Gmail account once I empty them from my trash can. In Outlook I have configured this in my advanced tab by checking the following two options:

Leave a Copy of message on server
Delete message from server when deleted from 'deleted items'.

However, the messages remain in my Gmail account when accessed through IE. How can I solve this?

Many Thanks

Try click here for instructions.

the link I gave above doesn't do what you require. The main point of gmail is that you never need to delete anything as it provides loads of storage. As far as I'm aware you can only delete emails from your gmail account when you are actually signed in. Select the messages to delete and select "Move to Deleted items" from the More Actions... dropdown menu.
