Afternoon

I am having a problem with my laptop (currently ongoing topic in this forum), so please forgive me if I should be posting this here, I just don't want this post to get lost. I have just purchased Acronis as I want to create an exact copy of my current hardrive which inc the op system. When I press backup option it shows C as 80gb but backup file size is 46gb. I am assuming then that it does not back up the OS, if that is the case anyone any ideas how I can do this?

thanks

It does back up everything and the file is compressed. My HD has got about 60GB on it and the Acronis file is about 35GB. So what you are seeing is about right.

It backs up all including OS and Partition to a Compressed Image. That it what you should Create to a External Drive using Acronis, check the Image after Creating it, as its no good if its faulty when you want to restore it.

PS If you have another Partition to Put the Image on, I suggest you use that. Then copy or move it to a External Drive

PS Do not choose Incremental Image, You just need a Full Backup Image

Thanks to both of you

I have TI Home10.
My C drive is 75GB and has about 50GB of files etc on it
TI creates a backup of the whole drive not just the data.
When I have had to restore my C drive it takes about 5-6 hours to complete, although the backup only takes about 20-25 mins.

Shouldent take that long mine took about half an hour.

20 minutes here to backup about 60GB and validate it and slightly less to restore.
