User error with WinXP Update: Recovery ?

  chilepicker 02:17 13 Dec 04

A few weeks ago I inadvertently clicked the wrong Windows Update box, which caused XP SP2 to start downloading -- an error that I did NOT want to make. I think I succeeded in stopping it by turning off Windows Update. I have left Update turned off since then, not wanting to risk re-starting the SP2 download.

Did I get some part of the SP2 download ?? if so, what is the filename and where is it saved?

If I did get some part of the SP2 file(s), do I have to clean them out or can I safely re-instate Windows Update now ??
I can't find anything on this subject anywhere I've looked.

Try the manual update route rather than auto update and see what happens when it begins. It should ask you what updates you want. Clear out all temp folders as a precaution.
