USB/Network printer

In Vista can a network printer also be used as a USB printer? I ask the question because my network printer is slow to respond and if it would work with a USB connection to the host computer that might speed things up.

if connected as a network printer (depends what you actually mean by this - network printer or printer on a network)then I *think* that if u ditch the network connection for usb, that you will need to keep the host machine switched on in order to print.

It would depend on the connections available on the printer. My network printers have a USB and a parallel connection in addition to the network, so can be used as a stand alone printer.
