Is there any way that my USB2 devices (printer and external hard drive) can be automaticly switched off when the computer is closed down.

Because they are USB devices and, thus, drawing power from the PC they will automatically shut down when the PC is shut down

Hi, the printer and hd should each have their own on/off switches.

Cheers

power supplies, in the desktop unit, have a power outlet that is, (normally), used to power the monitor. This switches off with the PC shuting down.

It might be possible to have things arranged such that this feed is used for the devices you mention...

However, should you decide to investigate this further you really should look into the amounts of power being taken, and the output of the power supply, to make sure everything is within safe limits.

Good luck,

Regards,

If you isolate your PC from the mains all your USB devices should turn off unless they are individually powered
