Am trying to install pci usb2 and firewire card.
Just will not work. Maker says is my motherboard able to run usb2? How do I know?

1. Reboot and go into BIOS check USB is enabled usually somewhere in advanced screen.

2. What operating system? you need at least win98se to run USB

3. If XP you need service pack 1 (sp1a) to run a USB2 card.

Have xp. Run lots on usb1 already. How do I know if have sp1?

Control Panel, System, General tab will tell you if SP1 is installed.

ok sounds like you have everything you need should just be a matter of plug in in card reboot Xp and let XP find new hardware and install drivers.

settings >control panel>hardware>devicemanager> click plus against USB you should have a usb2 enhanced controller loaded

There is a known problem with Via Chip sets on-board USB cards not running properly with Intel MB chip sets. Do a check on your USB card manufacturers website and see if there is any information about a fix or updated driver for it.
