I want to purchase epson R300 printer which needs usb2 cable but my computer is 5years old running windows 98 with usb1 will this be ok

Hi, a pci usb2 card might be the answer? lol

It should still work with usb 1.1 speeds,I'm not sure whether Windows 98 supports usb2 anyway, you may need 98se or above, but other's may know more.

Should be. I am running an Epson R200 printer on Win98SE with USB1.1 no problem.

My R300 ran fine with 98se USB1 . direct to machine[not a hub]
I've just put a USB2/PCI card in, the hub to that
printer to hub - dont know whether its works yet - thanks for reminding me. will give it a try NOW!

USB2 will make no difference to the speed of your printer. Go with 1.1

You will notice no difference in printing as has been said - where you would notice a substantial difference is if you use the built in memory card slots to transfer photos etc to the PC.
