USB1 to USB2 conversion

is it possible to convert USB1 to USB2. any converter available? my external dvd rewriter is usb2 one. it reads bu doesn't write. is this usb version compatibility problem? i guess they're compatible!
help!

A usb2 device should work in a usb1 socket but it will only work at the slower speed of usb1. It maybe this speed is to low for the drive to use its write function.

You cannot convert 1 to 2. You will need to install a USB2 add in PCI card.

I should have added that you can upgrade to usb2 if your system has a spare pci slot and is compatible.
