USB1 to USB2

Hi a am running WinXP SP2 on a AMD Athlon(tm) Processor,998MHz and 512 Mb of Ram.I have purchased a external DVD rewriter which requires USB2 to run properly,silly me,being a compleat novice is there an easy way for me to alter my computer from USB1 Cheers

Yep, buy a PCI USB2 card, about £20.

Open up the machine, slot the card into any available slot, switch on and it will install itself. Any disc you may get with the card will not be needed.

Will show in Device Manager as Enhanced USB.

You will then have the use of both types of USB connection.

SP2 includes USB2 drivers but you may, as ventanas indirectly suggests, still have USB1.1 USB ports.

In fact you can probably find a four-port PCI USB2.0 card for even less than suggested.

You should also check in the Bios that uSB2 is Enabled and that (if available) you select the number of USB2 ports required.
