USB to Serial convertor

Hi, does anyone know if I can use a usb to serial convertor cable to run from a USB printer to my print server which only has a Serial connector.
I am purchasing a Canon pixma IP3000 and have a Netgear PS111W print server. I'll try anyway if no one knows as the cables are very cheap anyway.

many thanks to the board members

I am not too sure... I imagine that there shouldn't be any obvious problems....

I think its not a serial port but a bi-directional parallel-port

Thanks, you are of course right it is a bi-directional parallel-port cable. Just checked on eBay and they have a USB to parallel cable for printers. So thanks you have saved me a few £'s and a lot of frustration if I had bought the wrong one.

This place is just brilliant!
