USB problem,

Hi. Ihave an Asus P7P55D LE motherboard, never given me any problems.
I recently replaced my old PS2 keyboard with a usb one. Worked fine, but my optical usb mouse went dead! Tried various rear usb sockets, none worked. Mouse worked perfectly from front usb port.
I attached a PS2 adaptor to the new keyboard and used the PS2 socket. Everything worked fine and no problems since, so quite happy.
But I'm curious, surely the rear usb ports can cope with mouse and keyboard. I have no other unpowered connections to the rear usb ports.
Would welcome an opinion on this!
Cheers
Andrew

No way should a mouse and keyboard exceed 500mA therefore I suspect a driver conflict between the two on the same "Hub"

Use something like USBdeview click here to remove all usb drivers from the registry then reconnect the devices windows will find and reinstall as required.

Took your advice and works perfectly now.
Also discvered piles of obsolete usb drivers which I have cleared out.
Cheers!
