I have a son who also uses the multi-function R600. He uses Win98SE, and in spite of problems in other areas, his R600 worked straight from the box. Also he doesn't have a USB2 bus at all.

Might be worth searching Epson's site for latest drivers and re-install.

Any Hardware that is USB2, will also work OK if connected to USB1 but will be slower.

USB2 Hardware is backwards compatible with USB1.

However USB1 Hardware will not be any quicker if connected to USB2. This is because it was not designed for USB2.
