USB Ports & WiFi USB Adapter

Hi, can anyone explain what is happening with my USB ports?

I've recently gone wireless and was happily using any one of the front two USB ports on my desktop pc ('07 Packard Bell, Vista) for my WiFi USB adapter (LM Technologies). After a week one of the ports stopped working with the adapter. The device manager states all ports are working properly and I've even uninstalled/reinstalled the ports. The adapter still only works with the one USB port, (even tried the rear ports). The other ports work fine with memory sticks etc.

Is there a simple explanation for this or is it just a quirk?

From a happy, still be online but baffled user.

Refresh USB Ports
Use Drive clean up to remove USB device drive info from the registry
In device manager Uninstall EVERYTHING under the heading USB,
reboot the PC let XP find and install new hardware.
Your equipment should now be recognised.

Thanks Fruit Bat.

Tried refreshing USB ports but added problem of trying to uninstall in Vista. As soon as hub is uninstalled, Vista automatically installs without the need to reboot pc. Rebooted anyway, and system installed driver software but still the same problem of USB adapter only working in one port.
