usb ports have stopped working

all the ports on my computer (usb) have stopped working. can somebody tell me how to get them working again - looked in device manager (win xp) all ok. tried removing and reinstalling drivers but no go. any ideas would be really appreciated.

Do you have the WinXP CD?

If so:

Put the CD in the drive and in the run box type in SFC /scannow (note the space), this will check your system and repair/replace any missing drivers for your system.

did your computer come with a driver cd, you may find the software to run the usb ports on there

In device manager Uninstall EVERYTHING under the heading USB,
reboot the PC let XP find and install new hardware.
Your equipment should now be recognised.
