USB Mouse Problems

  JohnR08 08:33 24 Apr 06

I've just got a USB optical mouse, plugged it in and all worked fine.
However when I turn on the PC in the morning, the lights on the mouse work, but it won't move. If I unplug it and plug it in again it works perfectly....bit of a pain though as the USB is at the back of the PC in the desk.
Any ideas ??
Incidentally, I've got an HP Pavillion PC with Intel P4 running XP Home. The only other USB device is the printer.

USB ports can be quite fussy at times. Have you tried swapping the mouse and printer ports? My next step would be to uninstall all the USB drivers on the PC, restart it and let them all re-install. This may work. Then try to get any updated rivers for your m/b and mouse from manufacturers web sites.
Best of luck.

Hi John.
I have posted on this very subject two days ago.
I have now disabled the USB mouse support in the bios and used a USB to PS2 adaptor.
All is now fine.
