USB Hardware Stop Working

  Big Trev 11:33 12 Jul 03

I have two bits of hardware connected to the PC via USB - BT Home Highway ISDN Modem and a Lexmark X 85 printer. If thw computer has been switched on for a lengthy period of time, it seems to "lose" both these items.

Either the dial up connection window says there is no dial tone or is unable to connect and the an error message states that the computer cannot communicate with the printer.

A reboot sorts both these problems out, but it is annoying and I was wondering if there is a way of sorting it out.

Any ideas folks?

Go to the device manager and find the USB root hubs they are connected to, then go to the power options and uncheck "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
