Can one use an external hard drive to work on video and music files and if so do the programmes need to be installed onto the external hard drive?

Hi, Yes ... and ... No

You can store your Video and Music simply by Drag and Drop.

Cheers.

PS - hmmm, to work on them, not just to store - better to Install programs to Ext HD.

So does that mean that the actual work on the files must be done on the internal drive and then stored on the external. My reason for using the external drive was so that the computer would not slow down - so would I just delete the files after working on them and dragging to the external drive?

Sorry - to clear up slight misinderstanding.

Start from scratch with Programs installed direct to Ext Harddrive. Then you do everything on the external drive. I have two external usb drives 320Gb and 160Gb.
