usb flash drive - windows reboots when plugged in

I have a very strange problem. When I plug my usb flash drive into my computer, it causes my computer to reboot. My computer is running windos 2000 pro. Any help much appreciated. john

Try uninstall and reimstall All usb ports,

I think you will find that Windows 2000 does not support flash drives. You would bo OK if you had XP Home or Pro. For Windows 2000 you will need a driver for it to work.....if you can get one!!

win 2k does support flash drives i have a number that work ok upto 2gig in size i also have 2 usb pendrive mp3 players which also work ok it could be shorting on the usb port causing the reboot try plugging the drive in when the system is turned off and booting with it in
