Neither of my 2 USB port work at present. This happen before but one of them came back of its own accord. Now both are permanently off. Any help gratefully accepted

I have had this happen to me. I believe there is a small fuse associated with each USB port. This is not repairable.

What I did was install a 4 + 1 port USB PCI card. These are quite cheap from somewhere like Scan.

Some fuses are resettable. click here for example.

Perhaps I should say, the last time it happened I rang Tech Support as machine was under guarantee. They were able to reset using Control Panel. However machine no longer under warranty and I do like paying £1.50/minute for to be kept hanging on for 15mins.

Try this web site for lots of info for usb faults click here

1. Ensure USB enabled in BIOS.
2. Check usb controllers under settings /control panel /system /hardware /device manager have you got a yellow mark against the controllers?
3. What operating system? need service pack 1 for usb2 in XP.
