Hello,
Bought 2 x Belkin pro 5m USB enxtension cables.

I have 'daisy chained' these together to give me a cable of ten meters. I plug one end into my pc, and the other into my usb device.

Windows picks up the new hardware, however does not recognise it or says it is malfunctioning. Each of the cables work fine by themselves, and also the device defo works, but the moment i run two together, its doesnt want to know?

I have win xp pro, Sp2.

I think a USB cable of that length has to have somekind of signal boost incorporated into the cable. At least the one I have does. -- Perhaps thats the problem you have encountered.

I tried connection my joystick to the two cables, and it worked fine. I also tried powering my device from its on power source, not the usb's, but that made no difference either:-(

The max. recommended length of a normal usb extension cable should be no more than 5m and after that the signal degrades too much. You can buy what are called active cables to overcome this but they are expensive.Read the details here click here
