USB Devices not recognised

My desktop (an old Pentium 4 system running Windows XP) has stopped recognising any USB devices plugged in to any of the ports. This system is only used rarely and mainly for backing up my photo files but I am not aware of any changes I might have made to mess things up. Can anyone give me a clue as to where to start looking? Thanks.

Have you had a look in Device Manager to see if any exclamation marks beside the usb drivers.

Even if no exclamation marks - go into Devices and click on + sign beside USB Controllers, then uninstall all USB Ports, when done re-start computer. USB Ports will then be re-installed and should then work.
