I’m running Windows XP I have heard it is safe to connect & unconnect a USB device to your PC while it is running with causing any damage to either PC or USB is this correct

Hi, yes, but if it is a usb card reader or similar do not disconnect with a card in the reader.

Whilst generally true, I have found card readers to cause a crash if unplugged willy nilly. No harm is done unless you have unsaved work.

You will usually get an icon in the taskbar for occasionally inserted devices such as these, to 'safely remove'.
