Have just installed BT Broadband but when I try to connect it says "No USB connection".How can I tell if my USB socket is working?

I assume you are referring to your modem.

Does it have a power on light?

If it does and the light is on, the USB connection is working

What OS are you running? If XP it should be fine and USB drivers are native. If Win9x you willl need to load the USB drivers specifically for the piece of kit.

To test, try another USB device such as a memory stick - if you have one.

Start > Settings > Control Panel

Double Click "System" and click on Harware Tab

Click on Device Manager and find the item USB Controlers. Click on + to epand. If anything has an exclamation mark againt it then something is wrong. If not then the USB ports are working OK.

Anything with an exclamation mark you should right click and choose properties to investigate what might br wrong.
