USB conflict

Having installed a new Lexmark 3 in 1 printer. I find that everytime I go onto the internet via my broadband modem the computer sticks and eventually freezes. To prevent this happning I have to disconnect the printer before accessing the internet. I have just this two pieces of hardware connected through USB ports. Having uninstalled and reinstalled both lots of software and telephone calls to helplines, I am getting quite frustrated. Can anyone offer a solution. Thanks

Just another thought, Do you have a network card in your computer that your broadband modem could connect to?
Leaving just the printer connected via USB.

are you running xp? you could try unplug modem re boot replug modem, lexmark are notorious for it also get latest drivers from website and re install lexmark using the new drivers and not those on the cd.
