USB compatibility

The Canon LIDE50 scanner claims to be: "USB powered (USB 2.0 Hi-Speed) - no need for power cable". Will it work with the old-style USB (1.1 I think). The scanner takes 2.5W from the USB connection. Can the old-style USB supply this much?

Most if not all USB 2.0 are backwards compatable with USB 1.1

If not then you can always get a PCI USB 2.0 card.

Some scanners will include this card.

With USB 1.1 the scanner will not work in high speed mode
