the device manager on my pc tells me i have SIS PCI to usb enhanced host controller.does this mean that one of my usb ports is 2.0 and if so how can i tell which one?

In theory all the ports should be USB2.0 in that case.

If you connect a USB2.0 device to a USB1.1 port you should get a message panel stating that it will work faster if you have USB2.0 drivers installed...:-)

XP has USB2.0 drivers already.

They are all USB2

Depending on how many USB ports you have you may have to configure the Bios for that number of USB2.0 ports.
