USB 2 devices slow?

I am getting a message informing me that this device would work quicker if it was connected to a USB 2 port.
I find this strange since ALL of my connections are USB 2.
The PC is USB2 setup, and the only thing that I can think of is that I have a 4 port extension hub connected - but THAT is ALSO USB2!
Can anyone throw any light on this?

What are your system details and how many usb devices are running at the same time?

It's worth checking in the Bios that all your required number of USB2 ports are Enabled and in Device Manager that the Enhanced USB2 drivers have been installed (USB Controllers).

Jak_1
Windows XP Home Sp2, 3GHz Pentium 4 HT, ATI Radeon 9200, 160 GB HDD
Number of devices always vary with jobs to do, but EXTERNAL Epson scanner, Epson Printer (2), LG Super Mult Writer and Western Digital Drive.

Will have a look at this.

Presumably the scanner and printers have their own mains adapter?

Refresh USB Ports
In device manager Uninstall EVERYTHING under the heading USB,
reboot the PC let XP find and install new hardware.

No

Fruit Bat /\0/Did as you suggested. When switching on one of my devices - External drive - I get the message "There are no HI-SPEED USB host controllers installed on this computer.
There then follows my different USB device listings, then the recommendations are:
You must add a HI-SPEED USB host controller to obtain maximum performance."
Yet the Hub that I am using IS Hi-Speed USB2!!

You are absolutely sure that it is a USB2.0 hub and not 1.1...:-)

Also have a look at:

especially under the USB 2.0 link.
