hello folks, i have a PC with 4 usb 1, my camera would only work with USB2, if i purchase a usb 2 pci card and plug it into the mother board with the drivers for that card would i then get a usb2 port, also is there a differance between usb2 card and usb2 controller

Yes, with a pci 4port USB2 card. When it is fitted you should see in Device Manager in the usb section the word Enhanced, this is proof that you then have usb2.

Check you have a PCI slot free and just get a USB 2.0 PCI card, thats what you need. Something like this click here
Your existing ports will remain USB 1.1 but the ones on the new card will be USB 2.0.
Others click here better quality perhaps hence higher price.

A PCI card will provide 2/4 or possibly 5 USB2 ports
A USB2 controller is part of the logic provided by the PCI/USB2 card.

You will need Windows 98 Second Edition or above.
