Ive recently seen references to a USB 2 port, can anyone tell me the difference between USB & USB 2,Im looking to buy a scanner & some of them have a USB 2 connection I dont want to buy something that I might not be able to plug in.

USB2 is about 40 times faster than USB1.1 but it is backward compatible so you will be okay with your new scanner, it will work, only not at USB2 speed.

Check you system to see if USB 2 is enabled or installed (via systems information or device manager) or post us your Win OS which may help.
Your motherboard manual should also give the setup for any usb devices.

Given the choice if your system suports USB 2, for a scanner that would be my prefered option for speed.
