I would be grateful if you guys could help, I use remote desktop when I am at home to work on Uni projects with no probs, the trouble is I would like to do it the other way round as I have a 2003server at home with SQL server running on it and I would like to access this server from Uni using my laptop and a wi-fi setup they have there.

any takers on this one

I waited a little while to reply because this is not my area of expertise - but my guess would be you need to set up VPN on your 2003 server to allow a connection to be established from outside. I imagine your Uni already has this configured at their end which is how you connect in.

Obviously your firewall will need to allow an outside connection too.

Sorry if that ain't much help but I thought you must be feeling lonely.

The firewall may be the cause, I am looking into that as we speek, I have activated remote conections on my server, I wonder what else should I do
