I have a built in 250mb Zip drive that refuses to accept discs, the drive does show up when I click on 'my computer' I have checked that there are no safety tabs, and have also uninstalled/reinstalled the software once before. Could it be down to out of date software or a mechanical problem?

that the drive cable has become detached, or is loose, and I advise you to check.

When you say it "refuses to accept disks" do you mean the disks will not physically go into the drive slot? Do you seem the drive access light come on when you boot the computer? The BIOS will/should look at the drive as the computer starts.
