UPS's

I'm not sure how many of you use a UPS as a backup in case the mains fails. I found this on the internet when I was looking for something else.

Looking at some of the waveforms from some of the cheaper UPS's I would be a bit concerned connecting my computer to them, it seems some of them would likely kill the electronics in the computer power supply if those spikes are anything to go by.

How many people actually check the quality of the supply put out by these things, particularly the cheaper ones.

I did. I RMA'd a Belkin UPS after tests by a PC Magazine showed that a power spike would kill a PC connected to it and bought an APC unit that had successfully passed the power spike test.

it appears to be current and relevant to what I am considering.

e.g. changing my Anti-Surge Bars to UPS Devices and wonder if PCA has done any research on these matters, and efficiency, of both types.

Any extra info would be welcome, and other links!
