my new laptop came with windows xp home installed.
I now want to upgrade it to windows xp pro. when I start the upgrade process, it goes so far to a point where it has to re-boot, closes down and then will only go to "post" where beeps once and then frezes.

is this form of upgrade feasible or do I have to click on new installation (advanced) which will wipe my hard drive?

Regardles, you should do a clean install , and not *upgrade* the existing one...

Its a better plan in the long run, it will save you posting here with all sorts of *odd* things goin on !!! :-)
