upgrading processor

hi all ive got a amd soltek dim motherboard model nunber sl-75kav/-x trying to upgradw to a amd 2.4 processor the bios for the board has been updated but the processor will not kick in any ideas guys many thanks simon

Check that the heatsink and fan is secure. Is the BIOS POST screen showing? Or is it not switching on at all?

What PCB Version is your motherboard, is the processor a Thoroughbred & does your board support them ?

When you say that the BIOS has been updated do you mean the BIOS level that supports Thoroughbred CPUs has been installed or that you have updated the BIOS to reflect the new CPU that has just been installed - or both?

Am I being clear? Yuk!

You need to install a BIOS level that will support the AMD XP2400+ processor.

You also need to go into the BIOS, after installing the new processor, to check that all is OK and to 'save' the new settings. While the setup program will recognise the new processor the BIOS will not change to support it unless you perform the save.

Sorry if I'm teaching Granny, but some people do not realise this requirement.
