Guys, im looking to upgrade my cpu (4200 dual core) which is a socket 939, I know I will have to get a new motherboard for the processor an AM2 socket for the new AMD. However I have 2gig of PC3200 ddr400 ram and this is where my knowledge ends.... is this ram compatable with the newer MB's or if im going to upgrade should i go the whole hog and upgrade the MB, cpu and the RAM??

Thanks

motherboards are all ddr2 or ddr3 now. ddr2 is cheap so you may as well get a motherboard bundle deal. examples at novatech.co.uk

Is there much a difference in performance of the newer RAM?

DDR2 PC6400 ram is what I'll have in my new build in January; I'm assuming thats twice as fast as your current ram. Whether you'd actually notice the difference in day-to-day computing I have no idea.
